On March 20, Faroe Islanders were joined by over 10,000
tourists in experiencing one of nature's greatest spectacles.
A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between
the earth and the sun, completely blocking out the direct light of the sun.
This phenomenon only happens on average every 375 years for any specific
location. In 2015, the only places one could witness a total solar eclipse were
in the Faroe Islands and Svalbard.
